  • Pay rate of $61ph (including casual loading)

Programmed are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Welder/Boilermaker to join a well-established aviation manufacturer based in Port Melbourne, with occasional work being done in Keilor Park.

The role will be a 6 month assignment, with potential to extend.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality TIG and Oxy welding on steel components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Fabricate, assemble and modify structural steel components, frames, brackets and fabricated assemblies.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions and fabrication specifications.
  • Measure, cut, fit and prepare materials using hand and power tools.
  • Grind, finish and inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with quality and safety requirements.
  • Safely operate workshop equipment and maintain tools in good working order.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment while adhering to all Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with production, engineering and quality teams to meet manufacturing schedules and project deadlines.
  • Identify fabrication issues and contribute practical solutions to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Requirements

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Qualified Boilermaker/Welder).
  • Demonstrated experience in TIG and Oxy welding.
  • Ability to read, interpret and work from engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience fabricating and assembling steel components to precise tolerances.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with a practical and proactive approach.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Reliable, punctual and able to commit to a Monday to Friday work schedule.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively managing workload and priorities.
  • Physically capable of performing manual fabrication duties in a workshop environment.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to Boeing's quality and WHS standards.
